Sales Growth – Web Optimisation Reaps Rewards

Our sales and growth are already strong, but we continue to put in place programmes to further increases traffic and conversion rates across our sites.

Recent optimisation strategies on have achieved just that: editing copy, reviewing titles and creating SEO-friendly content to support the selection of products has resulted in a growth above our (already aggressive) targets.

Our aim is to always provide the consumer with the best price, best service and to present a curated product range that is easy to navigate and select.

We’re accustomed to having a strong Web presence through our multiple e-commerce stores, however our new corporate website will add to this through detailing our marketing initiatives, supplier operations and company news. also describes our culture and employment vacancies. The new website is part of our wider initiative to link our e-commerce sites – making it easier for consumers to recognise instantly a member of the Love Shopping portfolio.

Midlands Family Business Awards

From one accolade to another…

Reaching their climax on the 14th November, 2013 at the majestic Great Hall at Birmingham University, the Midlands Family Business Awards recognise the unique aspects and economic importance of family firms.

Nick and Ryan were delighted to accept “Highly Commended” in both the Retail and Fast Growing Business Family Business Categories. The Awards have a special significance for Love Shopping; as, while our customers drive everything we do, we’re also a family business – and proud of it.

It’s well-known that Nick and Ryan (our directors) are brothers, but within our staff there are many more groups of family members.

Fast Track 100: We’re In!

Love Shopping Direct Ltd. is delighted to be included in this year’s Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table, which ranks Britain’s one hundred private companies with the fastest-growing sales over their latest three years.

Coming in at Number 46, Love Shopping Direct also features in the associated Research Report under the category of Energy Efficiency – the authors of the report noted how the growth of companies such as ours, are fuelled by rising energy costs, increased government subsidy and regulation, as well as growing environmental awareness among consumers.

Over the past 17 years, the Fast Track 100 has featured many companies that have gone on to even greater success. Past stars include ARM, which is now worth £14bn, B&M Retail, valued at £965m last year, after being acquired by a private equity firm, and Innocent Smoothies, sold to Coca-Cola for £160m.

The Fast Track 100 has become the definitive barometer of privately-owned growth companies in the UK. The 100 companies achieved, on average, sales growth of 81% a year over their last three years of accounts, to a total of £3.2bn in 2012/13.

One Move, Two Websites and a Trade Store. Phew.

The last few months were hectic. We moved to huge, shiny new warehouse space, opened our first trade counter and launched and offers a differentiated service to trade and commercial customers through the provision of bulk deals, trade-only pricing and technical buying guides. Mitusbishi dehumidifiers is a dedicated site for the Japanese Tech giant’s premium dehumidifier product range.

Increasingly, retailers are disrupting the conventional model of selling: no longer either pureplay online or operating through a physical store, John Lewis, Net-a-Porter and other innovators are operating across multiple channels.

Love Shopping aims to be just such an innovator in the electrical DIY marketplace. To this end, we’ve opened our first trade counter. The 10,000 square feet space is perfect to display 10,000+ products, launch new lines and host demonstration events. We’ve already erected an entire LED lighting wall and we’re working with key suppliers to create an exciting and informative retail experience.

New Digital Campaigns Boost Sales

Talking of dehumidifiers, these great products are the subject of a major marketing campaign by Love Shopping this autumn.

Our research shows that consumers aren’t aware that dehumidifiers are often cheaper than tumble driers at drying laundry, nor that they improve air quality for allergy sufferers.

Our new digital newsletter highlights these benefits. It was sent to more than 200,000 registered users and achieved a significant click-through rate of 17%.

E-campaigns are also in place for the new product ranges from our LED suppliers, plus campaigns that target the trade, education and commercial markets through explaining the cost and energy saving benefits of switching to LEDs.
